Late Balogun Of Ede Land Was A Good ‘General’ – Rep. Bamidele Salam

I received with deep sense of loss but with total submission to the will of almighty Allah, news of the death of Balogun of Ede land, High Chief Alhaji Hassan Olabiyi, who passed on to the great beyond on Monday, 31st of August, 2020.

High Chief Balogun was a brave man who loved his native land of Ede with courageous passion. His reign as the traditional head of defence of the ancient town of Ede had accorded the town resounding dignity and unquantifiable respect amongst historical power houses in Yoruba land, with no record of success of any external aggression. Baba was always handy to offer his hands of support to all and sundry whose path came in contact with him, or anyone with cognitive affinity with Ede land. He was indeed, a good ‘General’.

I therefore heartily commiserate with His Royal Majesty, Timi of Ede land, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Ede Traditional Council and the entire sons and daughters of Ede, on this irreparable loss of Balogun of Ede, one of the most potent ancestral history of Yoruba race.

Rep. Bamidele Salam

My thoughts are also with the immediate family the great Balogun left behind, as well as all of us who were well loved by him. I pray God almighty to strengthen the entire people of the town to bear this loss.
