As Muslims celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohhammed today, Rep. Bamidele Salam has wished them joyous celebration which he said should also be accompanied with sober reflection.
Rep. Salam who represents Ede north, Ede south, Egbedore and Ejigbo federal constituency of Osun state in the National Assembly in his message on the occasion, also called on Muslim faithfuls, families, friends and associates not only to celebrate but also use the event to reflect on the situation of the nation and essence of their existence with a view of making the society a better place.
In the message which was contained in a press release signed by his Legislative and Media Assistant, Mr. Lubem Gena, Rep. Salam pointed out that though the prevailing circumstances in the country may test the faith of many Muslims, they should continue to demonstrate deep faith as the country moves towards overcoming various obstacles to its development.
“The birth and life of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, has taught mankind valuable lessons centred around humility, perseverance, justice and defence of the poor against oppression.
“I therefore call on both leaders and the led to have something to reflect on as the day is marked bearing in mind that the purpose is to celebraterate the birth and triumph of Prophet Prophet who is venerated across ages for living a life worthy of emulation.
“It is equally my desire to call on all Nigerians to have a positive approach to issues of national development and continue to pray and work towards building a country that thrives on justice, peace and honour for all”, he added.
