Rep. Salam secures release of Segun Oyewale from detention

Segun Oyewale who has been in detention for over forty days has been released after the legal team assembled by Rep. Bamidele Salam secures his release earlier today.

Rep. Salam is the National Assembly member representing Ede north, Ede south, Egbedore and Ejigbo federal constituency of Osun state.

Segun who hails from Ejigbo local government area of the state, was arrested by the police since 31st October, 2020, held in their custody for 10days before he was arraigned at the magistrate court and again remanded since Nov 9 2020, for being part of the #Endsars protest.

He has been in Ilesha correctional facility since that day making it 30 days at the facility in addition to the 10days he earlier spent in police custody.

The application for bail came up today at the State High Court Ikirun, where his bail as argued by defence Counsel put together by Rep. Salam was granted by the presiding judge, Justice Falola.

Announcing the release today, Rep. Salam said: “I am happy to report that we have been able to secure bail for one of my constituents, a young man, Segun Oyewale who had been in detention for the past 40 days on account of charges related to the #EndSarsNow protest.

“I am absolutely convinced of Mr Oyewale’s innocence of the charges brought against him.

“I am glad that there is some relief for the agonising mother of Segun who is from Ejigbo Local Government area of Osun State.

“We will continue to work hard to facilitate access to justice for those we have the privilege of representing here”.
